Sepp Blatter confirms he will stand for a fifth term
"The 78-year-old Swiss announced the news via a video interview played at the Soccerex conference in Manchester.

Blatter, who was first elected to the role in 1998, had pledged before his re-election in 2011 that his current term would be his last.

But he said the backing of the majority of the national associations at the FIFA Congress in Sao Paulo in June had convinced him to keep going.

Five of FIFA's six continental bodies have already announced their support for Blatter and only Europe has publicly opposed him.

"You see a mission is never finished. And my mission is not finished," he said.

"Then I got through the last Congress in Sao Paulo not only the impression but the support of the majority, a huge majority of national associations asking 'Please go on, be our president also in future'."

Blatter effectively has a free run at a fifth term in office after UEFA president Michel Platini announced last month that he would not be challenging the incumbent for the role."

Adolf Hitler, Saddam Hussein and Kim Jong-Un would think he's taking the piss a bit now.

I guess he NEEDS to stay on as President. Someone else comes in and all his dodgy dealings would be exposed?

If the Europeans had any balls and integrity they would leave FIFA and go it alone!

Yep I too remember Septic Bladder saying he was to step down after this term. FIFA is FUBAR The only way forward is to limit the president to 2 terms. Even his bastard love-child Bumbling Boris the result of shagging a yeti was limited to 2 terms.
Unfortunately probably need the president to support this plus a majority of those on the gravy train.

What gets me is the fact Russia have illegally invaded a European country and no one has yet ordered FIFA to stop the Russia World Cup in 4 years. Is that because Russia paid FIFA a massive amount of money illicitly to hold it? Just like Qatar?

Yes politics should be taken out of sport but only when you take the rank corruption out of sport otherwise who else is going to police those in charge?

Its time the whole world rose to disband FIFA, kick out Blatter and start afresh - and that is politics

I reckon he’s only standing to piss that moody English hating French cunt, Platini off.

Anyway the result is in the bag for Sepp, quite literally, the brown paper bag.

Let the free, transparent and democratic election process begin..............

I think it was respectable when Sir Stanley Rous was president, it's just been hijacked by corrupt individuals ever since. Havelange started it off, isn't it his son in law who's now got his nose in the trough?

saul, the problem is his mate is in charge of uefa so you can't escape his influence no matter who sanctions the tournament. the big clubs in Europe should make a stand against the Qatar world cup and refuse to change their timetables to accommodate a two month winter break for a vanity project which is happening because of back handers

Re: Sepp Blatter confirms he will stand for a fifth term
If you have a crook in charge of an organisation, that has access to limitless funds and who uses these funds to bribe all the members of that organisation that have the right to vote. He will be a very popular choice among those who benefit from his corruption.

In FIFA there are countless delegates voting who contribute very little to world football, such as the obscene amount of power once wielded by Jack Warner of Trinidad.

The wealth is created by advertising in Europe, where all the top football is played. In view of the fact that Blatter can't be voted out, it is high time that Europe withdrew from this shabby bunch of crooks and concentrated only on Europe to which all the best players gravitate, and where all the markets for advertising are based.

Re: Sepp Blatter confirms he will stand for a fifth term
The lizard cunt mumbled something about respecting the game, that football is the most important thing.

So important, he gave a world cup to a fucking desert.

I actually admire him in many ways, to go this long so blatantly and unashamedly corrupt, and get away with it, in a game that is the most watched and scrutinised the world over, takes some doing.
